Fanny Bay Inn

"Simply the best food to be found, in the best pub, north of Victoria."

G K Chester -- World Food Guide for the Travel Weary - published 2007, Singapore Press LLC

This newly renovated and reworked pub on the coastal highway of eastern Vancouver Island has quickly become one of the must visit destinations for those in the know of where to find superb pub fare, genuine hearted service, and a delightful traditional pub atmosphere.

In the short time that the new owner, Peter Grant, has been in charge, a new life has been brought to what had been a well loved, but sadly aged old lady of a restaurant.

The Fanny Bay Inn is 3 kilometres south of the Buckley Bay Ferry Terminal Exit o the Island Highway. Located on the Old Island Highway. Now it has attracted a devoted following of foodies who like to travel on the island looking for new atmosphere and dining experiences.

With them have come others: those on the hunt for the freshest oysters; the most savory of hamburgers; the subtlest of soups.

And of course, a wide selection of fresh beers to wash away the dust of the travel road.

There's a large parking lot, (big enough for even the most ostentatious of travel homes,) a large fenced and shaded back garden where you can enjoy your beer and meal during warm weather, and that most essential of features for the grey fogs of winter, a large and crackling wood fireplace.

The Fanny Bay Inn is an easy drive for anyone living in the stretch from Qualicum Beach to Courtnay-Comox. But it is also a nice day's destination for anyone traveling the Inland divided highway.

Just take the Buckley Bay Ferry Terminal Exit, turn right at the traffic light, then south for 3 kilometers. It'll be on your left.
